America always seems like a massive asshole. They see a small country in a bit of a scuffle and, like the giant wangs they are, jump into the fray, destroy everything and then leave when the going gets tough while the poor country has to clean up all the destruction. To this day I bet they still believe that Vietnam was a "Good Job!"

Anyway, Team America is a parody of that; a group of assholes trying to save a world, that doesn't need their help, from the clutches of Kim Jong-Il and the Film Actors Association.
There are loads of hilarious scenes, especially with the marionette portrayal of some actors like Samuel L Jackson and Matt Damon.

Oh, and you know what's more awkward than watching a movie with a sex scene in it with your parents? Watching a movie with puppets having sex in it with your parents.

I enjoyed this film slightly more than the original.

This film's about a load of different tales of love, focusing on quite a few people. After a while, they all begin to link together and finally, everyone finds their real love when it reaches Christmas (end of the film).

I really like the way this film is shot, it must be hard to introduce loads of characters, build up their stories, make you fond of them and then bring them together all in a short space of time.

I like this film quite a lot and, even though it wasn't Christmas when I watched it, it's nice to watch throughout the year.

There are loads of funny scenes, learning his real name is one of them.

Woot! Made it to 150! (I am up to date on films, just not on reviews).

Anyway, The Warriors is about the titular gang who are accused of killing a peace-keeper. They now have to somehow find a way back to their home whilst being chased by all gangs out to get them.

It's a really cool film, the different gangs are fun to see and its great to watch some nice, violent action scenes for once.

This film is a cult classic now and one of the best lines ever is: "Waaaariors! Come out to Play-Ay!"

Nice acting, great effects and even if the storyline is a little hard to believe, its very imaginative.

I was looking forward to watching this with some friends so I went to the cinema after an exam and watched a really great storyline fall apart in front of me.

Indy 4 picks off 19 years after the last Indy film (Last Crusade) in 1957. The Russians are blowing shit up at that time and everyone believes in aliens because of the recent Roswell activity.

The opening scenes are awesome and so are many of the scenes where we get to see Dr Henry Jones do his archelogical work, such as in Peru.

Unfortunatley, Shia Labeouf's character (I have no problem against the actor himself, just the character) brings down most of the film and the ending was just the nail in the coffin. If George Lucas wanted to mix Indy with Star Wars then he could have made an entirely new franchise, leave Indy alone to fight Nazis who want mythical objects, not outer-space paraphernalia.

I did enjoy the film, however, and it did have a funny death (as all Indy films should), it's just a shame about the ending. If they do make an Indy 5, I hope they leave aliens out of it.

Anyway, from end to finish, this film has action, what's not to like?

It introduces Davy Jones and the Kraken (who, may I say, is wrongfully killed off in the final film and we're not even told how or why).

It's alright.

There are quite a few plot twists so it's hard to keep up. Other than that, it's alright.

I am a BIG fan of Iron Man and so I almost peed myself when I went to see this.

Downey Jr is excellent as Tony Stark, billionaire playboy who has an accident and becomes Iron Man.

This blog is actually really late, I saw this film around 20th May and got the DVD for it on 24th October and it is now the 14th November. Yikes, sorry.

Anyway, I love this film. Excellent storyline, excellent acting, excellent effects, excellent bad guy, what more could you want? Humour? You got it! Cameos from the director and Stan Lee? It's there! Iron Man kicking shit into terrorists? There's a town full of them!

Awesome.

Greeks are very similar to Italians; massive families, arrogant, eating all the time etc. That is why I like this film, because my family is Italian, I find extra humour in this film than say an English person would.

It reminded me very much of my family and some of the lines on there are usually pointed out at family parties such as my cousin's wedding just gone; old women would try to 'snap [girls] like chickens' because they look to thin, they would eat all the time and there are about a billion of them there, crying at the church and pinning money to the bride.

It's scary how alike it is.

For this special kind of humour that is rarely seen, I like this film and I'll give it:

Truth is, I love this film. I used to watch it a lot as a kid and when ever it's on the TV, I like to watch it.

Basically, Jamaica set-up a bobsled team with the help of John Candy. It's based on a true story apparently and it has some laughs along the way, who doesn't love rastafarians?

Hilarity ensues.

Like I said, I like vampire movies. This one is a lot more gory that the others I've seen though, that does not make it better though.

The story is that in Alaska they have 30 days of night and when that happens, some vampires come out and eat people, a group try to survive these 30 days.

The vamps in this film are ugly bastards and don't take no shit from no-one. They also speak some weird language.

The plot does kind of freak me out. Usually its just one night with a vamp or two but this is a whole 30 days (should be 67) with them.

I love this film.

A man is cursed to being a pig-man and calls himself Porco Rosso (the Crimson Pig). He's the best pilot in the region and fights off air-pirates.

My favourite part is the fight at the end or the re-building of his plane.

Nick Nolte is a suicidal bum whose life is saved by the Whiteman family. They take him into their expensive home and look after him. He changes everyone in the family; the father who, at first, likes him, eventually comes to despise him, the mother who hates him eventually falls in love with him, the son comes out of the closet, the daughter decides to marry him and the dog begins eating again.

It's a funny film and Nolte once again dons the angry guy persona (look at 48 hours for a picture).

Jon Heder is a nice guy, too nice really. He gets walked all over and can't get a date to save his life. Everything changes when he takes life lessons from Billy Bob Thornton who teaches him to be meaner, look out for number one and get the girl.
Thornton decides that his student is overtaking him and so believes that its time for him to show him who's boss by muscling in on his life.

Its a funny film with some good acting from the two main characters. A nice cameo from Ben Stiller as well.

Jim Carrey is an extremely funny guy and a very talented actor, this movie further proves this alongside all his other movies.

In this film, Carrey plays Fletcher Reede, a lawyer who lies through his teeth to gets his verdict. His lies are taken home with him to his ex-wife and son. After a while, his son gets fed up and decides to use his birthday wish to stop his father from lying. It works and Fletcher finds life incredibly hard when he can't lie.

I still firmly believe that this film proves that Jim Carrey could portray Phoenix Wright perfectly if they decide to make a Phoenix Wright movie.

I know a lot of people don't, but I really enjoy Adam Sandler's movies. They're just my kind of comedy.

Little Nicky is one of my favourite of the Sandler movies just because of all the references to heavy metal, hard rock and lots of cameos.

Basically, Lucifer has three sons; Adrian, Cassius and Nicky, and every 10,000 years, Satan chooses a new ruler of hell. When Lucifer chooses himself to rule again, Adrian and Cassius go apeshit and wreak havoc on earth, freezing the path to hell. Nicky must venture out to stop them and restore the balance between good and evil (because Nicky is part demon, part angel).

It has some great cameos from Henry Winkler, Quentin Tarantino and even Ozzy Osbourne. It's a pretty cool film.

Christian Slater falls in love with Patricia Arquette and they come across a case of drugs when trying to run away from their former lives. They decide to sell the drugs and live off of that money. Gangsters come looking for them, as do the police and it all ends with a big shoot-out.
It is a great movie and it's not surprising that it was written by Quentin Tarantino.

Hercules is the son of Zeus who was stolen from Olympus and turned mortal. He does not turn fully mortal however and keeps his super-strength.
This is the story of how a young and inexperienced Hercules turns into a hero as he fights monsters and saves damsels.
Danny DeVito plays the part of Philoctetes (Phil), a sarcastic Satyr who trains Hercules to reach his full potential.
Its a great film and one of my favourites.

I'm sure everyone has seen the animated Disney version, well this is only slightly different in story.

Roger has a dalmation and he bumps into Anita who also has a dalmation. The dogs have puppies and Cruella de Vil, a fashion designer, wants the dogs for a new fur coat. She gets them, along with many others and has a total of 99. Everything goes wrong and the dogs get their own back on her. Roger and Anita get their dogs back and decide to keep the rest, resulting in 101 dalmations. Nice mathematics there.

It is a nice family film albeit a bit daft.

Where do I start with this one? I'll do this review out of chronological order just like the movie.

Quite possibly the greatest film ever made.

The story follows multiple characters in their everyday lives of gangsters and organized crime.
The start of the film sees "Pumpkin" and "Honey Bunny", a couple who need money, attempt to rob a diner. After that, it shows all the separate stories of the characters.
Vincent Vega (Travolta) and Jules Winnfield (Jackson) are two gangsters working for Marsellus Wallace. They have to retrieve a suitcase from some guys and bring it back to Wallace.
Mia Wallace (Thurman) is Marsellus' wife and Marsellus has instructed Vincent to look after her and take her out for dinner.
Butch Coolidge (Willis) is a boxer being paid by Wallace to take a dive, he betrays him and decides to take the money for himself.
All the characters intertwine together somehow and by the end of the film (which ends with the start with pumpkin and honey bunny), everything is made clear.

I picked this movie up after watching it at my dad's house last year. I got it for about £3 off Play and I've seen it about a million times since.

Film #84: Aladdin (1992)

Aladdin has to be one of the best Disney films out there. I don't know whether its the charm of the story, the unintended humour or the fact that Robin Williams is the genie.

Basically, Jafar is an evil bastard and gets a street rat called Aladdin to fetch a lamp for him from inside a panther type thing made of of sand (it can talk and calls everyone infidels). Aladdin doesn't escape in time and is trapped inside with his monkey and a flying carpet. He cleans the lamp and out pops Robin Williams who grants him 3 wishes.
Aladdin uses his wishes to get the love of Princess Jasmine who eventually sleeps with Jafar instead.joke

Catchy songs accompany the great storyline which rounds it off to be a great film.

Spreading more Pixar love is Toy Story 2. This time around, Andy accidentally tears Woody and he gets put on the shelf and sold at a garage sale. Buzz leads the team out to rescue Woody from a balding fat guy, who owns a collection of 'Woodys Round Up' dolls including a Jessie the cowgirl, Bullseye the horse and the Old Prospector, before he is sold to a japanese museum.

Although this is not as good as the first one, it is still great and I love it.

I could sit here and quote this film all day. It's (I will try to refrain myself from saying awesome) a fantastic film and the first film by Pixar. The story and concept is extremely original and thats why I love it so much.

Woody the cowboy is Andys favourite toy...until his birthday comes up and he gets a new toy called Buzz Lightyear and he's a spaceranger.
Oh yeah, did I mention that the toys walk and talk when humans aren't around? Guess not.
Woody is the leader of the toys until Buzz shows up and so he tries to get rid of him forever.

The music by Randy Newman is legendary and I can bet you that if you sing the first line to someone in the High Street, they will know what you're on about, "You got a friend in me!"

I could go on and on forever but I'm sure you already know all about this and love it too.

Taking a break from Wallace and Gromit, Nick Park brings us Chicken Run which is a film about a chicken farm where all the chickens try to escape and in many cases parodies The Great Escape.

This film is on every Easter and was no exception this year (the date now should be 21st March, talk about a late review). I enjoy watching this film because of how original it can be and how it takes a serious film and puts a comedic slant on it.

Pixar films are always awesome. I have never come across a Pixar film that I didn't enjoy (I haven't seen Cars, Ratatouille or Wall.E yet though) and this film is by far no exception.

Monsters Inc is possibly my second favourite pixar movie (first being Toy Story) because it is extremely original, funny and awesome (for lack of a more awesome word).

Sully and Mike are monsters working for Monsters Incorporated and scare children at night because their screams are used as power in the monster world. The monsters go through lots of training and are told time and time again that humans are dangerous.
One day, Randal (a bad guy) tries to get some extra work done but accidentally lets a little girl into the monster world. Sully and Mike take responsibility of the child and try to hide her until they can get her back to the real world.

I cannot stress enough how good this film is. Watch it now if you haven't already.

The animation in this film is very smooth and uses motion capture throughout which makes the movements of the characters more life-like.

I enjoyed this film and liked all the small cameos from actors like Jon Heder and Jason Lee.

Back when Chuck was ten, a crush whom he turned down put a curse on him. He would never find true love and whoever he sleeps with would find mr. right straight after.

In the present day Chuck tries to escape this curse when he meets Jessica Alba, who plays a dumb and clumsy girl.

It can be quite funny at times and also sometimes sick and disturbing. A scene that comes to mind is when he doing this gigantic 800 tonne woman with acne all over her.

For any of the pervs out there, you do see Jessica's panties. Just thought I'd mention that.

One last thing; does anyone else find that promotional poster extremely creepy?

A hilarious comedy set in 1916 Mexico.
A small town have a problem with some bandits and after watching the hit TV show Three Amigos, they send them a telegram asking them to get rid of their problem.
The amigos (Martin, Chase, Short) accept, thinking that it's just an act, and find themselves trying to defend this village while using their skills accumulated from the show.

Great film, it's a classic.

They find a loop-hole that allows them to enter as a double-act.

It's hilarious to watch these two comic actors work together with Ferrell being the macho tough guy and Heder the feminine boy. They work out their differences and try to be winners once again.

I have had a lot of stuff to do; exams are the main problem. Thankfully, school is almost out so I have lots of free time and will hopefully get back on track. I have been watching films while away though so all I have to do is write a review for them.
To save time, I may shorten the reviews, it depends on whether its a bad film or a good film.

Film #71: Jumanji (1995)

I remember seeing this film in the cinema with my dad. It was awesome, I loved it.

13 years later and I'm sat in my dad's living room, watching Jumanji with him, times haven't changed at all.

Alan Parrish finds a board game that beats like a drum, he decides to play it with Sarah, a girl he likes, the game is creepy and whatever it says comes true. Alan is sucked into the game and Sarah runs off. About 26 years later, two kids find it and play it, they release Alan and decide to finish the game. With the game comes lions, mosquitos, giant spiders, crazy plants, monsoons, crocodiles, monkeys, stampedes, earthquakes, quicksand and bounty hunters.

Its a brilliant concept and the actors bring that concept to life. They are excellent and the effects, for the time, were pretty good (I laughed at them this time though).

All in all, a great film for the whole family. I would like to play Jumanji though.

This film is really good, I liked it when I was young and I still like it with the same enthusiasm.

It's about some aliens that are after the fifth element, in the 23rd century, which turns out to be a woman, some guys get her and restore her but she escapes and falls into Bruce Willis' cab. He rescues her and they go to find answers and stuff.

I really like the sci-fi stuff in this and all the actors play a great part, especially Milla who spoke some weird (and completely made-up) language throughout.

It's a terrific film which should be enjoyed by everyone and not just sci-fi nerds.

This was probably one of my most hyped up movies ever, and my expectations were just right.

Now, I know that this film is stupid and has loads of product placement but it's still a freaking awesome movie!

I cannot explain how awesome I found this film, from start to the bizarre finish, I loved it.

I actually watched this on the way to and from a University with one of my friends on my iPod so it was like Snakes on a Plane on an iPod on a Coach O_o

Anyway, awesome film. Watch it and love it.

One more thing: "Enough is enough! I have had it with these motherfucking reviews on this motherfucking blog! Everybody strap in, we're gonna open some fuckin' windows!"

This film is about some gangs in the Bronx, New York in the 1960's.

It follows the Wanderers, an all-Italian gang as they find love, fight other gangs and get into mischief.

It's interesting to see how all the different nationalities interact and what their lives were like back then.

There is much racial tension and so gang wars are everywhere.

It's a good film if you give it the time. It's interesting, funny and sad at the same time.

Now, I've seen the newest version of Freaky Friday and I've seen the really old one but I had no idea that there was another one.
Apparently so and this one is better than the first but not as good as the last.
It follows the same formula as the other two; girl and mom hate each other, switch places and get to grips with each other's lives, girl has trouble with man who she thinks is trying to take the place of her dad but eventually she likes him, mom has trouble with girl's hobby and in the end, there is a big finale like a water-skiing championship, diving tournament or a rock concert.
It's alright.

Film #63: Beowulf (2007)

This film apparently follows a poem of some sort, about a warrior who fought a monster and then was captured by the beauty of that creature's mother.

So, Anthony Hopkins is a king who is tormented by a monster (who is actually his son) and calls on a warrior, Beowulf, to kill it. Beowulf does so and is then tormented by the monster's mother. He goes to kill it but is captured by her beauty and eventually has a son with her, who turns out to be a dragon.
It's a little bit crazy but it's still good.

The thing that bothers me with this film the most is that no matter what part Ray Winstone plays, he can't shake that Cockney accent. It's annoying when everyone has a Danish accent and there's Beowulf there going "I'm 'ere to shlay ya monshta!"

The animation is also well done but I have to say, extremely pointless. Why animate it? It looks real enough that they had to have acted it out first, why not leave it like that?

Good film anyways.

Adam Sandler has always been a funny man in my eyes. He's constantly poking fun at himself and he has a very likeable voice. I have liked most of his films (except for Punch Drunk Love and Overboard) and so I approached this film hoping for it to be great.

Guess what? It was!

Jack and Adam work so well together and this results in an extremely funny film.

Basically, Dave Buznik (Sandler), a business man, has a misunderstanding on a plane and ends up in anger management with Dr. Buddy Rydell. Things just get worse from there. Buddy moves in with Dave, follows him everywhere and steals his girl, Dave is not happy.

It's a really funny film, just look at the cover and tell me it isn't.

Remember when you were younger and you used to watch all those Disney films? They always had happy endings and singing and dancing.

This film is basically all that singing and classic Disney magic but in the real modern-day world.

Giselle lives in a forest (as all Disney characters) and finds her prince. Unfortunately, the Prince's mom doesn't want to share and so casts a spell on Giselle and sends her to the real world. The prince goes after her along with his servant and a chipmunk.

While there, Giselle finds a man and eventually falls in love with him instead.

The singing and dancing is still in there but has a funny slant on it, e.g. Giselle sings and calls animals to clean the apartment a la Cinderella, but they are vermin like rats, cockroaches and pigeons.

It's a funny film with some heart-warming moments that bring the old Disney magic back. It's like being a kid again.
